Wafa is a soil and water scientist. She is also an environmental researcher. She worked at the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) for nine years. EAD is the largest environmental regulator in the Middle East, responsible for protecting and preserving our natural resources and promoting sustainable development in the emirate. Dr. Al Yamani conducts scientific research on agriculture land to provide new knowledge and verifiable data on soil and water quality and contributes to decision making on sustainable land management and protection. Dr. Wafa Al-Yamani gained her PhD in 2019 from Massey University in New Zealand, on the sustainability of hyper-arid forests of Abu Dhabi and the protection of Abu Dhabi’s groundwater resources. She completed her master’s degree in water and environmental engineering from Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, and a bachelor’s degree in Ecological and Environmental Science from UAE University. Dr. Al Yamani has many scientific publications and participated in many local and international conferences, representing UAE in her field of work. Also, vitally contributing to knowledge sharing, transfer of experience and technology, to joint efforts towards protection and sustainable management of our environment. Recently, Dr. Al Yamani has been a committed member of the Women in Sustainability Environment and Renewable Energy Program, led by Masdar to empower women to be leaders with an entrepreneurial mindset who are prepared to shape a more sustainable world.
