Dr. Mikati is a passionate agriculture engineer, worried and determined to find solutions for farmers' problems in her region. She holds a master's degree in plant pathology from the American University of Beirut (AUB) and a Ph.D. in Plant Protection from the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy. Her main research interest is in the plant-fungal pathogen, with an emphasis on soil-borne diseases. She has been responsible for laboratory and field experiments in this domain for nine years, achieving several international journal publications and international conferences participations.
Dr. Mikati is also currently responsible for the Laboratory of plant protection in the northern station of the Lebanese Agricultural Research Institute located in Abdeh village. Both her experimental work and experience gained from daily exposure to farmers' problems are transmitted to others through extension meetings with farmers and several courses in local universities and technical schools.
